June has already been busy.
First, my next door neighbor told me he had termites. When the folks came out to tx his home, I asked them to give me an estimate, too. They checked my home, and thankfully, I have no termites, yet! They will tx my house this week, and in preparation for this, I am cleaning out my garage. This is long overdue, as my thinking has been, "I'm retired now. No rush on anything! I can do it tomorrow." So now, tomorrow is here. I have donation/haul off people coming out this week. It is a tiring and dirty job to go through everything, and I will be glad when this task is completed.
I had already planned a huge re-decorating job for this summer, so am hard at work taking down and getting rid of blinds, window coverings, etc, and patching holes. I hope to start painting this week, and sometime in July will have new flooring and window treatments installed.
There are some changes at work, with a new regional supervisor who is cracking the whip on nursing. This is a long overdue change. Hopefully, my area is safe!
Yesterday, I had photos taken for my military ID cards. We get started again in July, planning and working with the kids. Next week, there is a boating skills training, that I think I will attend. I have abt decided to take the same training as the kids, in addition to all the instructor training I will need.
The baby I wrote about in March continues to deteriorate. She was dx with Alpers Disease, which is fatal, and has only weeks/months to live. She was moved last week to a nursing facility, and will be moved home soon. The family has been offered Hospice, which they have declined. The rules of Hospice are that if the pt codes, no effort will be made to resuscitate her. I can't blame the family for their decision, as they continue to hope for a recovery. I pray for the baby every night. She makes some progress, as she appears to be able to swallow at times. One day, when she was not given her seizure meds on time, she cried "Mama" and said "Owe" when her blood was drawn. The poor child has to stay on seizure meds, which basically keeps her in a drug induced coma. This is one of the saddest situations I have ever been involved in.
