The baby died last night (see post 3/16/09). Formal dx: Alpers Disease. Apparently, it is rare and caused by a recessive gene, requiring one from each parent. The baby went into renal failure last week and liver failure this week. She started having bleeding in her brain Saturday PM, and was unresponsive. The docs were going to do surgery on Sunday to relieve cranial pressure, but did not. I prayed every night for her and her family. God did not give me what I begged for, and I sometimes wonder where he/she is. Life on planet Earth seems to suck ... repeatedly! And again, I am reminded of how powerless I am. This is a sad day!
