Another death in the family. This one after being shot four times by San Bernadino police. There was another MVA, middle of the day, person being pinned behind the steering wheel, lots of onlookers trying to help him get out of the car, he has no weapon, police arrive on site and kill him. It is all just too shocking! Therefore, my trip to CA was cancelled. Maybe next month. Work continues to be enjoyable, and I am finally beginning to relax after years of being beat up in other jobs. I talked to a former associate yesterday, from the place I just left. Mental health staff are falling apart due to enormous overload, taking weeks of sick leave, and it appears they can not get psychologists hired or to stay. It just verified my decision to move on. We are getting two more gang bangers. One who is so violent, staff have to wear a spit mask to even be around him, even when he is in cuffs. He has 10 assaults on staff in the last month, and 11 escape attempts. The other kid is part of a plan to bring in a gun, hold staff hostage, grab their car keys, and run! Not good for our other patients. This will be too traumatic for them. Our autistic kid is doing better, and hopes to release to a group home soon. There are just not that many group homes which will accept the extreme PDD kids.
