The holidays are over, at least for me. I have made a point of NOT going out on New Years Eve, the night that too many people will be out drinking and driving. Christmas day was very nice, held at my sister's house. She had the house decorated beautifully, and the food and hospitality flowed all day long. Rec'd a PCF a psychiatrist I had worked with in prison. He wants me to consider doing some Locums work, something I had thought about. Will follow up. I am enjoying being retired, and doing just about nothing all day. It is like being on vacation, and is a break that is LONG overdue. But, a person can only stay on break for so long, and I have started some serious Spring cleaning. This is another thing that is long overdue. On a sad note, the nurse I work with on Sunday has been dx with breast cancer which has spread to the lymph nodes. She has a family hx of cancer, both sides of the family. She said her odds are at a 10% survival rate. She has done just about everything in her life, and at one point while on a military search and rescue mission, crashed in her helicopter. She broke over 100 bones, and subsequently, her leg, foot, and jaw are wired together. She is a trooper and I know will literally fight to the death.
