Just heard back from the Okinawa people. As anticipated, the government's preference is to hire their own staff rather than go through a Locums group. Its abt money. So, I will not be going there. The Tx people are STILL working on that application, even though I will not be going there, either. It's been fun, but for now I am content to stay home. Been working on genealogy, and found that one family was captured by Indians, out of PA. This was abt the time of the St Phillip's War. One child, age 3, died in captivity. Her family members were ransomed 4 yrs later. I read the best seller, Mayflower. Apparently, such captures were not that uncommon. Looking fwd to celebrating a family member's BDay at a culinary school. Also, will dogsit at my sister's house for a few days. It's been very hot and humid. 110 degrees and overcast! Not looking forward to another long hot summer.

This week, I had conversations with both Locums groups. We decided to withdraw the bid for the TX job as they are SO slow. However, as the credentialing packet is still sitting on the credentialing person's desk, we decided to not notify them of our decision, and to continue with the process. At least, I'll get credentialed out of this mess, and if another position appears, I will already be in their system. The TX locums people offered me another position overseas: Japan, England, Germany. The other group said they would hear something abt their overseas job next week. Having done some sleuthing, I found the overseas positions posted on a Federal job webpage, which closed this week. Therefore, it appears that the overseas jobs are direct hires, and the backup plan is to go through the Locums groups .... which makes perfect sense. The Locums jobs are VERY expensive as compared to the direct hire jobs. Enjoying retirement even more. As a friend said, "Its like being on vacation every day."
