I heard from TX end of last week. Apparently, my credentialing packet is still sitting on someone's desk, untouched. The medical director emailed me, with profuse apologies. The Locums coordinator phoned, also with apologies. In my mind, it will just not work out now. And after experiencing their mess, I also have low expectations for the overseas job. Whatever!

Haven't heard anything from TX. Interesting that it was "hurry up and wait" three weeks ago. I talked to the overseas people this AM, and apparently the overseas unit is very interested in me, wants to know if I can stay 2 years instead of 1. I enquired about the overseas people's credentialing and security process, and apparently they have their own. They should be readily able to expedite their part. I also told the overseas people that as I had not heard from the TX people, I could probably go overseas at an earlier date. I asked if there were any openings in Greece. There are none. Shucks! Just finished reading Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell. Totally awesome book, and very upsetting. It provides a good look into the training/life of a SEAL. Highly recommended reading. Other news is that my current boss had unexpected bypass surgery, replacing 3 valves. I spoke with him yesterday, and he is being released home. Can't return to work for 12 wks. He is a major factor in my not wanting to leave the current job, but if he is out of commission, it is a whole new ballgame. My niece (the one adopting) came over this past weekend and went through some of the remaining baby stuff I had. I have been cleaning out my house, getting ready for who knows what. She seemed delighted to have what I gave her, and I am very glad to be getting rid of clutter.

Last Saturday, I rec'd a FedEx bunch of paperwork that needed to be done. One part of it was a VA application that could only be done online w password. That took abt 4 hrs. The other was generic paperwork. The last needed my doc's signature attesting that I was of good health. All due back w/i 2 days. Was able to get it done, and FedExed back. I am waiting, waiting. Supposed to be onsite 4/21, and that would mean that I need to give a 2 wk notice to my current boss now. Geez!! I keep telling myself that the good news is that I am in the VA system, and next time, it will not take so long, be so involved. I also have a very strong possibility right after that tour (if it comes about), to go overseas for a year. I am very excited abt the later, as it would be working with military again. There are SO many possible glitches in the Federal bureaucratic process. However, they have deemed my field to be in high demand, and I appear to have the experience and credentials that they need. So, the jobs should come abt. It is just a matter of time.
